Medicare

What is changing?

Medicare has updated their systems with a new digital channel for online claiming called Medicare Web Services.

Medicare have advised the industry that they are switching off their existing claiming mechanisms (“Version 4” and “Version 6”) on 13th March 2022.

How will this affect my practice?

SUNIX has upgraded the SUNIX Vision Practice Management System to be able to claim directly through the new Medicare Web Services process.

If you are claiming directly with Medicare through SUNIX Vision then you will need to update your SUNIX Vision System to be able to continue to claim.

Can I update now? What is the cost?

Practices who have a current Support & Maintenance agreement covering their SUNIX Vision Practice Management System can upgrade immediately, and claim using the new Medicare Web Services process.

Practices without an active Support & Maintenance agreement will be unable to claim using the new Medicare Web Services process, and should contact the SUNIX Support Team to arrange for a Support & Maintenance agreement to be put in place.

When do I need to update?

We suggest practices should update prior to the end of January 2022 to ensure a smooth experience. Medicare requires that practices must complete the upgrade to Medicare Web Services before the 13th March 2022. Please ensure you update as soon as possible, to ensure sufficient time to resolve any difficulties, and avoid delays in claiming.
